South Dakota State University (SDSU) is currently seeking an experienced individual to join our dynamic team as an Assistant Director of Enterprise Applications. This role is pivotal in overseeing the development, implementation, and maintenance of key administrative applications that drive the universitys operations. The Enterprise Applications is a team of eight dedicated and passionate IT professionals who thrive on team collaboration. The Assistant Director will provide direct supervision to two Software Engineers, fostering their growth through coaching and cultivating a supportive work environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within a mentoring environment, this position will have the following key responsibilities.
  • Technical Leadership: Lead a team of programmers in the development, enhancement, and maintenance of enterprise-level applications.
  • Project Management: Take ownership of projects related to onboarding and management of home-grown or third party applications with the support from different departments on campus.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with project managers, sponsors, and developers across multiple universities within the Board of Regents University system.
  • Mentorship and Supervision: Create a supportive and collaborative environment within the Enterprise Applications team. Mentor team members, provide technical guidance, and ensure the teams collective success in delivering high-quality solutions.

MINIMUM
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelors degree in Technology or other relevant field completed by first day of hire;
  • Minimum of five years progressively responsible information technology experience;
  • Demonstrate excellent project management skills with an understanding of the software development life cycle;
  • Experience with communication directly with peers, managers, and clients while leading the development process to a complete and successful solution; and
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Leadership and mentoring experience;
  • Experience in integration development and management;
  • Experience in database design and management;
  • Consistent focus on customer service and end user needs;
  • Ability to work unsupervised and possess strong self-management skills; and
  • Ability to organize and manage project priorities.
