An established and highly regarded Senior Living Community is looking for a full time Assistant Director of Nursing in the Birmingham area. Requirements:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Registered nurse with a current license in Alabama.
  • Two years experience in geriatric nursing and/or B.S. Degree in nursing.
  • Minimum of two years nursing administration experience, preferably in a long-term care setting.
  • Must have management experience.
  • Some on call is required.
Responsibilities:
  • Supervises direct nursing care in the Skilled Nursing.
  • Administers direct nursing care when more than routine care is indicated.
  • Makes routine rounds to assure proper care and a safe, clean resident environment.
  • Assures accuracy and completeness of medical records.
  • Coordinates, conducts, and documents the MDS, resident care plans and conference in the absence of the MDS nurse.
  • Supervises nursing personnel on all shifts. Participates in staffing, scheduling, counseling, orientation, and evaluation of nursing staff.
  • Assists with orientation of nursing personnel.
  • Participates in family/resident counseling.
  • Responds to emergency calls as necessary.
  • Functions in the capacity of DON in his/her absence.
  • Assures effective communication with other shifts and departments as it relates to resident care.
