The COH Assistant Director of Student Ministries is responsible for ministry to youth from 6th to 12th grade, under the direction and leadership of the Director of Student Ministries & Young Adults (DOSM). The Assistant Director of Student Ministries is responsible for contextualizing the mission, vision and values of Community of Hope within COH YTH Ministry at the Loxahatchee Campus of Community of Hope. The Assistant Director of Student Ministries recruits, trains and empowers volunteer teams to lead the COH YTH Midweek service at the Loxahatchee campus with excellence, and serves as a resource for the COH YTH Ministry leaders. The role of Assistant Director of Student Ministries extends to the families of the youth in the ministry, supporting and resourcing them as they raise children who will Be With Jesus, Become Like Him, and Do As He Did.

Requirements

  • Devoted Christ Follower - Follower of Jesus and involvement in a local church.
  • Love and Passion for Youth and Families – Passion for sharing the gospel with students and families and for equipping parents to be the primary disciplers of their children.
  • Volunteer Leadership – Experience in recruiting volunteers, building teams, managing volunteers and creating an ownership culture. Proven ability to work well with both youth and adult volunteers.
  • Highly Organized and Fast Paced – Able to work at a fast pace within a variety of settings and circumstances, with composure and flexibility. Self starter with ability to handle multiple tasks and projects.
  • Creative Thinker – Ability and desire to create irresistible environments and events that make kids and adults want to come back each week.
  • Committed to Improvement – Seeks constructive criticism, understands strengths and weaknesses, continuous reading and learning in student ministry strategy.
  • Team-Oriented - The Assistant Director of Student Ministries is a member of staff, family ministries, and COH YTH ministries. Working together with others is essential.
  • Administrative Skills - Detail-oriented, the Assistant Director of Student Ministries is responsible for aspects of COH YTH Ministry including planning midweek services, summer events, YTH CMP, etc.; responding in a timely manner to all communications.

POSITION DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Model Biblical Priorities: Responsible for upholding Biblical priorities and core values of Community of Hope. The Assistant Director of Student Ministries should represent a growing personal relationship with Christ. The Assistant Director of Student Ministries models a strong relationship with his or her spouse (if married) and children (if applicable).

The Assistant Director of Student Ministries strives to fulfill his or her purpose in life and ministry while demonstrating integrity in words, relationships, and actions.

These objectives are accomplished by:

  • Agreeing with and by God’s grace living into the Ministry Leader Ethos
  • Statement ()
  • Committing to a daily quiet-time with God.
  • Participating in a Community of Hope small group on a regular basis.
  • Setting appropriate boundaries to protect character and integrity.
  • Developing personal evangelism opportunities within and outside the church.
  • Commitment to all discipleship expectations of staff members at Community of Hope.

2. Strategic Leadership and Planning: Responsible for championing Community of Hope's vision and values within COH YTH. This leadership and input will be provided through many activities including:

3. Weekly Student Services:

  • Assist in weekly service leadership and execution.
  • Assist in creation and implementation of curriculum (small groups, sermons, workshops, etc.) in order to facilitate YTH’s growth in Christ.
  • Assist in planning of worship services and other opportunities for youth to be with Jesus, become like him, and do as he did on a Wednesday night.

4. Middle School Ministry:

  • Provide strategic leadership to the middle school ministry of COH YTH Loxahatchee Campus.
  • Assist in the implementation of middle school & high school specific content, curriculum, and events to help best serve and disciple all COH YTH students into fully developed followers of Jesus.

5. Volunteer Coordination:

  • Assist in oversight of volunteer teams through:
    • Identifies, recruits, trains, cares for, and leads youth and adult volunteers on a range of teams from first connection to placement in a role.
    • Weekly scheduling, communication, and equipping.
    • Provides regular care, follow up, and coaching for all volunteers.

6. Event Coordination:

  • Assist in oversight of all events student ministries and some family ministry events.
  • Help plan, lead, and execute after parties, fundraisers, larger events, summer camp, and others as they apply.
  • Be a champion of Family Ministries by supporting all family ministry as need and availability allow.

7. Follow Up Coordination:

  • Implement a follow up strategy for student ministries including documentation, next steps, and team building and leading.
    • For new students during and after their first visit.
    • For “missing in action” students.
    • For decisions being made and providing next steps.

8. Work and attend weekend services:

  • Attend one service every weekend to be a recipient.
  • Be present at all other weekend services to connect with volunteers and families.

EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in ministry or related field, or at least 3-5 years of experience in vocational student ministry.
