Assistant Engineer Level 2

Job Title: Assistant Engineer (Level 2) Agency: Construction & Development Department/Division: Delivery / Various Reports To: Engineer Manager 1 or Design Manager Work Location: 2 Broadway Hours of Work: 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM (7.5 HR/Day) or as required Job Family: ENG Grade: 002 Salary Range: $85,287 to $106,608 Deadline: Open Until Filled Responsibilities Perform engineering tasks by developing knowledge of applicable design criteria, regulatory requirements, standards, and processes. Provide engineering support on multiple design projects, including analyzing and documenting critical design elements. Develop site layout and grading, elevated structure, roadway/transit/pedestrian facilities, marine structures, utility design, stormwater management facilities, and erosion & sediment control plans and details. Coordinate and communicate with team members to determine requirements and incorporate feedback. Coordinate with Agency Owners, designers, contractors, outside consultants, and other government agencies. May need to work outside of normal work hours (i.e., evenings and weekends) and travel to other MTA locations or external sites. Telework This position is eligible for telework, currently one day per week. New hires are eligible to apply 30 days after their effective date of hire. Education and Experience Bachelor of Science degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Structural, Communications, Track, Signals, Environmental, Fire Protection). Minimum of three (3) years of related experience. Successful completion of the NCEES Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam. Competencies Capable of working on multiple projects in a dynamic, fast‑paced, team‑oriented environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Working knowledge of Federal, State, and local jurisdiction permitting regulations is a plus. Analytical ability, pro‑active attitude, willingness to learn, and the ability to think “outside the box” when required. General understanding of current design engineering software and Microsoft Office is required.
