Assistant Mill Operator
Position Overview
We are seeking dependable and safety-focused individuals for the role of Assistant Machine/Mill Operator in a fast-paced production environment. This position supports the Machine Operator II in daily operations and may take on supervisory duties in their absence. Ideal candidates will demonstrate strong initiative, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Essential Responsibilities
- Maintain high sanitation standards in assigned work areas
- Operate and maintain production equipment as needed
- Load/unload tandem trucks at elevator and storage sites
- Assist in training team members and learning Operator II duties
- Monitor grain handling equipment and storage site bin levels
- Bag sunflower products in 25-50 lb. bags on a continuous basis
- Operate forklifts safely and efficiently
- Complete required paperwork accurately and on time
- Uphold personal and environmental safety standards
- Communicate clearly across departments and management
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Operator II
Skills & Qualifications
Required:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Experience in a manufacturing or food production environment
- Basic math and computer skills
- Forklift operation experience
- Ability to follow written/verbal instructions and safety procedures
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs. regularly and work in dusty, non-climate-controlled areas
Preferred:
- 2+ years in an ag or food manufacturing setting
- Familiarity with:
- Color sorters
- Gravity tables
- Destoners
- Electronic scales
- Package filling & sewing equipment
- Tandem truck operation
Work Environment & Physical Demands
This is a hands-on, physical role. Candidates must be able to:
- Lift up to 50 lbs. repeatedly
- Perform frequent bending, twisting, and arm movements
- Climb stairs/ladders and stand for extended periods
- Work in environments with dust and without air conditioning or heating
