The Assistant Orchard Manager will provide support to all tasks involved in apple growing, sorting, cider blending, cider pressing, and reports to the Orchard Manager. This position will be expected to learn all aspect of orchard management and will be evaluated on their ability to move into the orchard manager position in the future.

Main Job Responsibilities

·      Pre-season pruning, spraying, and general orchard maintenance

·      Equipment and building maintenance

·      Mowing as required.  

·      Operation of apple sort line

·      Coordination of cider and market apple blends

·      Management of picking schedule and picking staff 

·      Assist as required to stock market, cider coolers, and apple bins during daily operation

·      Stage apple bins throughout the orchard for picking crew.

·      May be required to pick at times to support specific blends or market / cider needs.

·      All other duties as assigned

·      Must have or obtain a Commercial Pesticide Applicator License within one year of hire

·      Lead field trips, hay rides, and educational tours. 

Requirements

•    The ideal candidate will have a degree or formal training in an agricultural field.  A background in apple growing is preferred but not required.   

•    Must be at least 18 years of age.

•    Ability to operate farm equipment, tractors, forklifts, and mechanical ability preferred.  

•    Must be able to lift at least 50 pounds, multitask in a fast paced environment, and provide friendly interactions with customers and co-workers.
