General Description/ Primary Purpose :
The Department of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum invites applications for a tenure-earning Assistant Professor for TESOL position at the University of North Florida to begin on August 2, 2024.
We are seeking an innovative candidate with a vision and proven record of advocating for the diverse needs of students who can build upon and expand our TESOL program.


The successful candidate will be expected to advance the program's goals by maintaining their research agenda and contributing to graduate and undergraduate teaching and mentoring.


Candidates are expected to have a record of scholarly productivity commensurate with experience, including a record of publications and/or potential for publication in top and key professional peer-reviewed journals and the potential for or a record of securing externally funded grants.


A strong candidate will have a demonstrated a record of excellence in teaching and student success and in developing expertise in addressing critical needs in TESOL.


This is a 9-month, tenure-track position with a typical teaching load of two to three courses per semester.

Faculty Position Required Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate in ESOL/TESOL Education (or a closely related field) by the time of appointment.
  • At least three (3) years of teaching experience with PK-12 students in schools.
  • Evidence of publication in professional outlets, commensurate with experience.
  • Evidence of teaching excellence and effectiveness in higher education, commensurate with experience.
  • Demonstrated commitment to issues of equity for diverse learners.
