Assistant Project Manager Job Locations: US-IL-Rockford | US-IN-Indianapolis | US-WI-WISCONSIN DELLS | US-OH-Paulding | US-IL-CHICAGO | US-IL-CHAMPAIGN Overview William Charles Electric, a MasTec Company, is hiring an Assistant Project Manager to support project teams with documentation, QA/QC activities, and coordination of labor, equipment, and subcontractors on multiple projects. The role involves working closely with site superintendents to optimize resource utilization and ensure project quality and compliance. Location & Travel: The position is based in the United States and requires up to 75% travel by automobile, commercial airlines, rental vehicles, or public transportation. A company vehicle and fuel card will be provided, and travel expenses will be covered by a per diem allowance. Responsibilities Prepare scheduling of subcontractors on site Receive and check quality of materials Complete QA/QC checklists Process material submittals for approvals Respond to RFIs for general questions Prepare official project documents, route and finalize them Create project reports as needed Maintain backup documentation Close out final quantities Propose and negotiate extra work Assist with special projects within the Project Management function as necessary Perform other duties assigned by the Project Management Department Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field preferred. A combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. 2 to 4 years of medium/high‑voltage substation and transmission line construction experience, including knowledge of construction techniques, estimating, and construction management. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Experience with Project Management systems such as Procore, Build2Win, MS Project, P6, and HCSS. Strong analytical skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to read and understand contracts. Detail oriented with excellent organizational skills. Effective written and oral communication skills. Functional knowledge of job cost accounting. Understanding of CPM scheduling. Capable of up to 75% travel by automobile, commercial airlines, rental vehicles, or public transportation. Must be able to drive and possess the proper licensing. Authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship now or in the future.
