The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and operational leadership in all institutional accounting functions, financial reporting, audit, compliance, and internal controls. This role is essential in ensuring the integrity of the company's financial records, the accuracy and timeliness of financial statements, and the effectiveness of financial policies, systems, and processes. The AVP will partner with the Vice President for Business and Finance in long-range financial planning, recommend and implement financial policies that promote operational excellence, and develop financial models to assess institutional risk and sustainability. Applicants must have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, an active CPA certification, and a minimum of 7 years' of progressive experience in a financial leadership role. The role requires a strong background in GAAP, financial statement preparation, audits, internal controls, and regulatory compliance, as well as proficiency in financial software and Microsoft Office. Preferred qualifications include an MBA or other master’s degree, experience in higher education or nonprofit financial management, and knowledge of federal grants administration. The AVP will also be involved in the preparation and filing of tax and regulatory reports, establish a strong internal control framework, and assist in the development and reporting of annual budgets. Strong analytical, communication, and organizational skills are essential, as is the ability to build strong relationships with campus partners, external auditors, and financial institutions.
