The successful candidate will be a senior leader responsible for the integrity of financial records and compliance with regulatory requirements. This role involves directing the operations of various accounting functions, including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Payroll, Grant Accounting, and Student Accounts. The AVP/Controller will also play a key part in the company's financial planning, budgeting, and reporting, and will work closely with both internal and external stakeholders. Applicants for the Assistant Vice President/Controller position at the company should have a Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with a master’s degree or CPA strongly preferred. A minimum of 7 years' progressive accounting/finance experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or controller-level role, is required, with a preference for those with experience in a higher education environment. The role demands a deep knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and regulations, particularly GAAP, GASB, and FASB. Strong leadership, managerial, and team-building skills are essential, as is the ability to effectively communicate complex financial information. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial reporting tools is also necessary, and experience with the Jenzabar ERP system is highly desirable.
