The Assistant Vice President of Park Operations is responsible for directing and managing all functions related to the Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari Rides, Aquatics, Park Services, and Landscape Maintenance departments. This role reports to the Vice President & Chief Operating Officer and is a key leadership position. The AVP of Park Operations champions the guest experience by delivering exceptional rides and aquatics operations and an industry-leading clean and beautiful park. They set operational goals for the park operations team and guide daily execution to achieve these goals. This leader monitors all operational and safety procedures while remaining in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations as well as financial budgets. Work Requirements Lead and coordinate the Holiday World & Splashin’ Safari full time and seasonal staff in the Rides, Aquatics, Park Services, and Landscape Maintenance departments. This includes scheduling, performance management, recruiting, and employee relations, as necessary Ensure the highest safety standards are followed in all park operations departments Consistently achieve passing 3rd party audit results in attractions and aquatics operations Ensure all work performed is compliant with applicable standards, including OSHA, EPA, & ASTM Consistently deliver rides per guest (RPG) that meets or exceeds goals and/or historically acceptable levels Ensure overall park cleanliness including midways, restrooms, building exteriors, ride stations, queues, etc. Provide vision and direction for park landscaping, flowers, grounds, and tree management programs Oversee park cleaning program including trash removal, midway washdowns, bussing, and sweeping Maintain active membership with ASTM and stay up to date and provide input on relevant standards changes Participate in the overall design, construction, commissioning, and handover of projects Participate in the procurement of all necessary contractors, consultants, suppliers, and vendors to meet assigned objectives Prepare and actively manage annual operating budget and capital projects for park operations departments Participate in the development, maintenance, and management of the schedule for department projects to ensure on-time delivery, quality control, and cost control Request capital improvement projects as appropriate through the annual capital budgeting process Report to work as scheduled, including holidays, weekends, and evenings Learn new tasks and skills at the park and attend company-sponsored training off-site Perform housekeeping tasks to maintain Holiday World as the cleanest park in the country Work closely with other departments to deliver outstanding park operations, including working front line operational positions when required Other duties as assigned by management Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in business management or equivalent and/or relevant work experience Minimum ten years of successful experience leading large teams in the amusement park industry or related hospitality businesses Ability to operate at a high level during high-pressure or stressful situations Excellent negotiation and conflict resolution skills Ability to efficiently manage time and work without direct supervision Ability to clearly read, write and verbally communicate policies, procedures, letters, and reports in the English language Ability to interpret industry and regulatory regulations and apply the regulations to the workplace Proficient with Microsoft Office software, including spreadsheet, word processing, project management applications Ability to obtain and maintain various certifications including but not limited to: Ellis Lifeguard Instructor, Ride Operator and Trainer, Emergency Medical Responder, & CPR Ability to wear PPE Valid driver’s license Ability to work full-time and weekends Acceptable pre-employment drug screen and background check Physical Requirements Frequently required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms Must be able to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending twisting, pulling, and stooping Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus, capable of identifying colors Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds Ability to work at heights 175 feet above ground Ability to work in sunny, hot, cold, windy, rainy, noisy environments, and confined spaces Direct Reports Director of Attractions, Director of Park Services Holiday World & Splashin' Safari offers competitive wages and benefits, including a generous 401(k) match, bonus program, PTO accrual program, tuition discounts, and reimbursements, free season passes and tickets, and much more!
