Position Title: Associate Attorney

  • Position Overview:
    The Associate Attorney handle personal injury litigation cases involving trucking accidents, auto accidents, motorcycle accidents, premises claims, orthopedic (extremity and spine) injuries, wrongful death, and TBI and will provide legal representation and support in personal injury cases, working under the guidance of senior attorneys and is involved in all phases of litigation, from filing through trial, with the support of a partner or senior attorney, additional associates, a team of paralegals, and additional support staff.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct legal research and prepare legal documents such as pleadings, motions, discovery, and settlement agreements.
  • Manage a caseload of personal injury cases, ensuring compliance with deadlines and firm policies.
  • Communicate with clients regularly to update them on the status of their case, gather necessary information, and provide legal advice.
  • Negotiate settlements with insurance companies and opposing counsel to secure favorable outcomes for clients.
  • Prepare for and participate in depositions, mediations, and court appearances as necessary.
  • Provide support in trial preparation, including witness interviews, exhibit preparation, and case strategy development.

Required Qualifications:

  • A strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Passion for representing injured clients against insurance companies.
  • Previous experience in pre-litigation or litigation personal injury cases.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the State Bar of CA.
  • 5-7 years of experience practicing law, preferably with a focus on personal injury.
  • Strong understanding of personal injury law, legal procedures, and litigation practices.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and the court.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in legal research and case management software (e.g., Westlaw, or similar platforms).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience handling personal injury cases, including experience with insurance negotiations and trial preparation.
  • Spanish language proficiency is a plus.
  • Trial experience or a desire to handle cases through trial.

Physical Demands/Work Environment:
Must be able to sit for extended periods and work on a computer.
Occasional need to lift office supplies or documents (up to 20 lbs.).
