Job Title: General Litigation Attorney
Location: Nassau County
Employment Type: Full-Time
Billable Requirement: 1,850 hours annually
About the Role
A well-established defense litigation firm is seeking a motivated General Litigation Attorney with at least 3 years of litigation experience to join its growing team in Nassau. This position offers the opportunity to handle a diverse caseload, develop trial experience, and build a long-term practice within a collaborative, professional environment.
This role is ideal for attorneys with experience in defense-side litigation who are looking to expand their skillset, grow a book of business, and advance within a firm that supports professional development and client engagement.
Practice Areas May Include
- Motor vehicle liability defense
- Slip and fall / premises liability
- Labor law / construction litigation
- Medical malpractice defense
- General liability and civil litigation matters
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a litigation caseload from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery demands and responses, and legal correspondence
- Conduct depositions, court appearances, and mediations
- Develop litigation strategy in collaboration with senior attorneys and partners
- Communicate regularly with clients, carriers, and opposing counsel
- Maintain accurate time records and meet the 1,850 annual billable hour requirement
- Participate in business development efforts and referral relationship building
Growth & Business Development Support
- Dedicated in-house Director of Marketing to support attorneys in developing and growing their own books of business
- Opportunities to generate referrals and expand client relationships
- Bonuses tied to billable performance, cash receipts, and referrals
- Annual performance reviews with opportunities for salary increases and advancement
Qualifications
Required:
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
- Licensed and in good standing to practice in New York (or ability to obtain admission)
- Minimum of 2 years of litigation experience
- Experience handling matters such as motor vehicle cases, premises liability, labor law, medical malpractice, or similar defense work
- Strong legal writing, analytical, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage deadlines and multiple active matters
Preferred:
- Defense-side litigation experience
- Deposition and courtroom experience
- Interest in business development and client relationship building
