Overview Entry level law associate for established multi office firm in northeast Iowa. Practice primary in rural ag issues, including estate planning, business formation real estate, probate, tax prep and planning, bankruptcy, USDA/NRCS/FSA issues and banking law. Some municipal law clients. Position may include housing in restored (2024) upper story two bedroom apartment of approximately 1500 square feet. Work with clients through out Allamakee, Winneshiek, Howard, Chickasaw, Bremer, Fayette, Clayton and Delaware County and surrounding area. CLE, 401K match, flexible schedule and time off. Ag background a bonus but not required. Willing to wait for Bar 2026 results for qualified candidate. Responsibilities Conduct legal research Draft clear and compelling legal documents including pleadings, contracts, memoranda, and correspondence Assist in managing client cases by preparing case files, organizing evidence, and tracking deadlines to ensure timely submissions. Support attorneys in negotiation processes with clients, opposing counsel, and other stakeholders to achieve favorable outcomes. Participate in client meetings and hearings Stay current on evolving laws and regulations across multiple jurisdictions affecting estate planning, environmental issues, immigration policies, family matters, securities regulations, workers' compensation claims, personal injury cases, tribal laws, patent filings, and landlord-tenant disputes. Maintain meticulous records of all legal research and administrative activities within the law office's case management system. Skills Strong research skills with proficiency in LexisNexis and Westlaw platforms for comprehensive legal analysis. Excellent writing skills demonstrated through precise legal drafting of pleadings, motions, contracts, and reports. Ability to interpret laws and regulations accurately while communicating findings clearly to clients and team members. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail necessary for managing multiple cases simultaneously.
