JOB DESCRIPTION:

The Associate Business Development Analyst will support NYPAs energy development projects with a focus on NYPAs transmission interconnection project development work. The Analyst will support NYPAs strategies and New York State targets, and work towards becoming a strategic market leader on driving origination, innovation, and growth through strategic climate change investments for NYPA.


In addition to leading transmission growth for NYPA, the Analyst will support overall policy and regulation shifts to support electrification and the changing transmission system within New York and how it collaborates with other states/RTO/ISOs.


The Analyst will be responsible for managing Contracts, Contractors & Consultants, writing/creating scope of work, performing due diligence, performing financial and technical analysis, researching new technology in the energy and electrification space and stakeholder communications.


Responsibilities

  • Perform and coordinate analysis of new opportunities including development of transmission planning studies, transmission siting, and project financials/estimates.
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of the NYISO markets and FERC transmission proceedings to inform the assessment of new opportunities.
  • Co-author business cases for new opportunities including the commercial model, alignment with policy, and identification of key risks.
  • Prepare presentations for senior management proposing business opportunities and providing updates on projects in progress.
  • Support Origination team in negotiations on new opportunities.
  • Contribute to interdisciplinary project teams to perform due diligence and/or develop new business opportunities.
  • Support transmission planning and production cost modeling studies to inform business opportunities.
  • Act as a liaison between Origination and internal stakeholders in the development and execution of projects.
  • Liaise with external parties including developers, transmission owners, NYISO, and regulatory agencies.
  • Prepare variety of report and research on projects, trends, policies, and stakeholder activities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Analytical abilities to think through complex problems
  • Ability to support team members in the development of projects
  • Strong written, oral, and research skills
  • Ability to work independently on assignments, prioritize tasks, and manage deadlines.
  • Strong organization and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with colleagues and external organizations from various disciplines and cultural backgrounds.
  • Familiarity of the NYISO market and the broader energy industry.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Education, Experience and Certifications

  • Bachelors Degree in engineering or technical field is required
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in the energy industry
  • Experience with clean energy technology and transmission preferred

Physical Requirements

The New York Power Authority is committed to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation. The target salary range for this position is: $94,870 - $130,000. The salary offered will be determined based on the successful candidates relevant experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities.
