The Lymphoma Research Foundation (LRF) seeks an Associate Director, Peer-to-Peer Fundraising, to join its Development Department. This position will report to the Director of Event Fundraising and work with development staff in the National Headquarters located in New York City and volunteers across the country. The primary responsibility of this position is to generate charitable gift revenue for the Foundation through leadership and execution of a fitness-based, peer-to-peer fundraising program.

About the Foundation

LRF is dedicated to finding a cure for lymphoma, the most common form of blood cancer, by funding biomedical research and supporting the next generation of lymphoma researchers. With the guidance of the Foundations prestigious Scientific Advisory Board (SAB), which is comprised of 45 of the worlds leading lymphoma experts, LRF invests in the research and scientists which have the greatest potential to improve our understanding of lymphomas and lead to improved treatment options for patients. To date, the Foundation has funded more than $77 million in lymphoma- specific research.

Through comprehensive disease guides and publications, in-person conferences, and online resources, the Foundation provides education for people with lymphoma, as well as their loved ones and caregivers. A robust suite of LRF patient services provide direct support to people who have received a lymphoma diagnosis. These services include the national Lymphoma Helpline, a Clinical Trials Information Service, Lymphoma Support Network, and patient aid grant program. An industry leader in digital communications, the Foundation maintains a strong presence on multiple social media platforms and has won national awards for its innovative use of social media to educate cancer patients. LRF developed a first of its kind mobile app for people with lymphoma which was recognized by Apple as one of the best medical apps in the country. The Foundation also provides continuing medical education programs designed to increase the knowledge, skills and performance of healthcare professionals who treat and care for people with lymphoma.

About the Opportunity

The ideal candidate will be organized and entrepreneurial, with the ability to take initiative, work autonomously, and act with accountability. The position requires an authentic, deep commitment to diversity in all forms including the recognition of all individuals with mutual respect and the acceptance of others without bias. The salary range for this position is $80,000-100,000 annually.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Implements and drives overall strategic direction for national fitness-based peer-to-peer fundraising program (the Lymphoma Walks, the Lymphoma Research Ride, and Team LRF Endurance)
  • Responsible for managing all aspects of existing walk events, including oversight of planning and execution of target market events.
  • Responsible for recruitment and fundraising oversight of all endurance and active lifestyle fundraising campaigns, including the LRF Research Ride
  • Responsible for achieving budgeted revenue goals across fitness-based peer-to-peer fundraising, including the Team LRF Endurance, Walk, and Ride programs.
  • Supervises Peer-to-Peer Development Coordinator (and/or contractor) in their role to recruit all volunteers and manage peer-to-peer logistics and online fundraising portal and related activities.
  • Responsible for oversight of the LRF Research Ride and leadership of fundraising through the recruitment of sponsors, teams, and riders
  • Develop comprehensive donor/participant engagement strategy, including communication plan to engage, coach and steward all participants in achieving their fundraising goals.
  • Under the direction of CPO and Director of Event Fundraising, leverage data, trends and participant behaviors to identify business opportunities for growth and program optimization. Achieve participation, retention, and fundraising goals by continuously evaluating various metrics and KPIs.
  • Manage portfolio of corporate, patient and community teams with responsibility for raising budgeted revenue for individual event and overall fitness-based peer-to-peer program; manages recruitment, fundraising and stewardship of all portfolio participants; maintain year-round relationships with key constituents and volunteers.
  • Responsible for identifying and building a pipeline of corporate partners, with an emphasis on non-pharm or biotech industry prospects. Responsible for soliciting and stewarding corporate partners, including oversight of any and all program or event-related sponsorship benefits.
  • Partner with Marketing and Communications leadership to increase awareness and visibility of fitness-based fundraising portfolio in target markets.
  • Oversees Coordinator in high level volunteer recruitment, training, coaching and management, including identifying and managing event-based volunteer leadership committee (Ride Champion Council, Walk Committee, Corporate Chair, Patient Chair, etc.)
  • Other duties as appropriate and assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree and at least five years of peer-to-peer fundraising or directly related experience.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Confident, goal-oriented, strategic self-starter able to work independently and collaboratively across internal and external partners.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating with multiple teams and colleagues.
  • Willingness and ability to travel nationally and spend evenings and weekends at development events.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite, especially Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Experience with Adobe Suite, Word Press, Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Experience with TeamRaiser, Luminate Online and Raisers Edge.
  • Must possess valid drivers license.
