The Student & Young Alumni Programs (SYAP) team within Cornell University's Alumni Affairs & Development division is looking for a dynamic and innovative Associate Director of Young Alumni Engagement.

SYAP is tasked with supporting current students and recent graduates to build an inclusive community where the next generation of alumni connect, contribute, and lead throughout their lifelong journey with Cornell. The team sits within the Class, Affinity, Student & Young Alumni Programs team, a collaborative and creative group of engagement officers, in Cornell Alumni Affairs and Development.

The AD will create and implement initiatives that strengthen alumni involvement and giving to Cornell by meeting young alumni where they are and providing meaningful support through programming and 1:1 interaction. They will serve as a key resource and partner to colleagues around the division and across campus. In concert with the division's overall goals, this work will build a foundation of support and involvement for young alumni that will begin a lifelong journey of connection, contribution, and leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Student and Young Alumni Programs with implementing the newly created young alumni strategic plan.

  • Work with colleagues to build a programming and leadership pipeline from the student experience to alumni life.

  • Advise groups of young alumni volunteers and create new leadership opportunities guided by young alumni interests.

  • Develop and execute data-driven, life-stage-appropriate programming and leverage existing AAD programs to engage young alumni.

  • Recognize outstanding young alumni leadership through nominations, coordinating recent alumni awards, and personal outreach.

  • Lead collaboration efforts across the division and ensure partners have the resources they need to work with young alumni.

  • Administer work plan, young alumni programming budget and calendar, timely communications, etc. to maintain an efficient and manageable workflow.

  • Participate in professional development, build relationships with colleagues at peer institutions, and stay current with best practices relevant to the role.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree and 3-5 years of related experience or equivalent combination.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Must be able to establish and maintain intentional, lasting relationships on behalf of the university.

  • Competence to balance multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines. Strong organizational skills with a keen sense for accuracy.

  • Enthusiasm toward creating new initiatives and processes to meet young alumni strategic plan objectives.

  • Demonstrated commitment to supporting diversity, equity, access, inclusion, and wellbeing.

  • Intermediate Excel skills and interest in analyzing data to inform work.

  • Position requires some evening and occasional weekend work. Travel required (less than 25%).
