Associate Editor, FW Publishing

Nashville local media company FW Publishing is hiring an associate editor to work with its luxury lifestyle publication Nfocus.

Nfocus magazine has been at the forefront of the luxury, social and lifestyle publications market for over three decades, covering social events and honoring tastemakers in Nashville. Featuring rich content and intriguing photography, Nfocus honors and preserves the story of Nashville’s ever-growing community.

Nfocus is looking for an associate editor to join our team. The associate editor works closely with the editor-in-chief to cover Nashville's social and philanthropic scene and report on beauty, fashion, food and wine, travel and personalities for the monthly print publication and digital platforms. In addition to event coverage, the associate editor will manage daily tasks around the digital platforms to ensure a variety of content and brand alignment. The ideal candidate will be a creative, enthusiastic, detail-oriented team player with proven writing skills and who will strive to represent the brand with a professional look and attire that fits the style of the event.

The ideal candidate should have strong interpersonal skills; be able to manage multiple tasks and work well on a deadline; possess a strong work ethic; be a self-starter with excellent time management skills; and contribute fresh editorial ideas that appeal to our readers.

Responsibilities:

Represent Nfocus at social events and provide written coverage for print and web. This will include working with the photography team members to obtain names — with correct spelling — as well as recording the details of the event to paint a picture of the gathering for readers.

Assist in writing columns that appear regularly.

Pitch and regularly contribute stories for print and web.

Line-edit, copy-edit, fact-check and proofread stories for print and web.

Assist in the management of the Nfocus website, social media platforms and newsletter campaigns. Specifically loading all stories into the website system, creating newsletters and content for the newsletters and work with social media platforms like, but not limited to, Facebook, Instagram, Threads, YouTube Twitter, and other duties as assigned.

Assist on major photo shoots

Requirements:

A minimum of two years of professional writing and editing experience preferred

A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, creative writing, communications or related field

Familiarity with AP style

Experience with Adobe InCopy and Adobe Bridge preferred

Availability to work nights and weekends

The associate editor will report directly to the Nfocus editor-in-chief.
