Associate Project EngineerJGM Engineering Graduate Rotational Program Developing Future Leaders in Steel Fabrication & ConstructionProgram OverviewThe JGM Engineering Graduate Rotational Program is an 18-month initiative designed to give recent college graduates (majored in engineering, civil engineering, or similar fields) hands-on experience in industrial construction and structural steel fabrication.Participants rotate through three departments:EstimationProject ManagementField EngineeringEach rotation lasts about 6 months.-Rotation 1: Estimator (6 months)Supervisor: Senior EstimatorObjective: Learn how to estimate project costs by working on real jobs with our senior team.Responsibilities:Read and interpret construction drawings and specificationsPerform quantity takeoffs for materials and laborUse software to develop cost modelsRequest pricing from suppliers and subcontractorsBuild detailed cost breakdowns and bidsWork closely with the sales and project teamsSkills Gained:Estimation software (Bluebeam, Salesforce, Excel, Tekla EPM)Budgeting and cost controlBid preparation and risk evaluationSales and marketing alignmentOutcome:Understand how accurate cost estimation impacts bidding and profitability.-Rotation 2: Project Engineer (6 months)Supervisor: Project ManagerObjective: Assist in managing projects from start to finish—on time and on budget.Responsibilities:Support scheduling and resource planningTrack progress and milestonesCoordinate between design, fabrication, and field teamsHelp with procurement and contract documentationManage deliverables, resources, and budgetCommunicate with vendors, subcontractors, and clientsAttend meetings and site visitsDocument lessons learned and take feedback for growthSkills Gained:Project tools (Microsoft Project, ERP systems, Excel, ProCore)Time and resource managementTeam collaboration and communicationClient coordinationOutcome: Gain full project lifecycle knowledge and skills to lead execution.-Rotation 3: Field Engineer (6 months)Supervisor: SuperintendentObjective: Get boots-on-the-ground experience with steel structure installation.Responsibilities:Conduct on-site inspections and quality checksEnsure safety standards are followedSolve technical issues in the fieldCoordinate logistics and materialsEnforce safety proceduresKeep field documentation updatedJoin safety programs and initiativesSkills Gained:Fieldwork and steel installationReal-time problem-solvingSafety and complianceField-team communicationOutcome: Understand how jobsite conditions affect project timelines and collaboration.Program BenefitsHands-on experience in three core departmentsOne-on-one mentorship from industry leadersClear career paths after completion: Estimator, Project Engineer, or SuperintendentUpon completion:Graduates can specialize in a department and may be offered a permanent role at JGM.JGM offers a competitive wage and benefit package: Overtime availableProduction bonusMedical, Vision & DentalPTO & Holidays401(k) + MatchingLife InsuranceDisability insuranceGenerous Referral ProgramTraining and further educationThis job description is subject to change based on the needs of the business and is not all-inclusive.
