Rangam is seeking candidates for a Direct Hire role as an Associate Scientist Early Antigen Development with our client, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies.Seeking candidates in Pearl River, NY or willing to relocate.Role SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated Associate Scientist to support early antigen and assay development through the application of molecular, microbiological, and cell culture methods. The successful candidate is excited about preclinical research and will have the opportunity to help advance multiple bacterial vaccine programs. The Associate will be familiar with a BSL-2 environment and can work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.Role ResponsibilitiesWork in a BSL-2 environment to perform preclinical experiments aimed at developing and optimize vaccine candidates. Perform functional assays to assess vaccine candidates.Build team skills and collaborate within the team as well as across groups to support vaccine development efforts.Adhere to schedule and perform other activities as assigned.Analyze data and present experimental results in meetings.Document all work in electronic notebooks and write progress reports as required.Stay current on all departmental and corporate training.Perform other duties as assigned.QualificationsMust Have:BS with 0 - 2 years of laboratory experience in a microbiology or biological discipline (Microbiology, Biotechnology, Biochemistry, or equivalent)Experience working with bacteria in a BSL-2 environment.Motivated, flexible, and willing to learn new skill sets.Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions while confident in problem solving.Excellent organizational and time management skills to meet deadlines.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Computer literacy and Microsoft Windows/Office 365 experience. Experience using PRISM and bioinformatics software for cloning and genome analysis preferred.Nice-To-Have:Experience in recombinant protein purification.Experience with cloning and bacterial strain manipulation/engineering.Familiar with performing preclinical functional assays.Experience with mammalian cell culture systems.PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTSSitting, standing, walking, and repetitive procedures, light lifting; ability to analyze data and design experiments and present scientific concepts to colleagues.NON-STANDARD WORK SCHEDULE, TRAVEL OR ENVIRONMENT REQUIREMENTS Local travel, adherence to all safe work practices and working within defined biosafety requirements.Flexibility to work late hours/weekends if needed.Work Location Assignment: On PremiseThe annual base salary for this position ranges from $60,200.00 to $100,400.00. In addition, this position is eligible for participation in client's Global Performance Plan with a bonus target of 7.5% of the base salary.
