Location: Abbott Park, IL 60064
Duration: 12 Months on W2 Contract
Shift: 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM (schedule may vary, including occasional Saturdays)
Job Description:
- The Associate Scientist I will support reagent manufacturing, conducting investigations into internal nonconformances and customer complaints related to reagents. This role involves assisting in the development and improvement of reagent manufacturing processes or products. The ideal candidate will design experiments, analyze data, write protocols and reports, and present findings to cross-functional teams. Strong problem-solving and analytical skills are crucial, and the candidate must be able to work effectively under pressure to meet project deadlines.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct investigations into internal nonconformances and customer complaints.
- Design experiments and testing schemes for reagent manufacturing.
- Analyze data, write protocols, reports, and present results to cross-functional teams.
- Assist in developing and improving manufacturing processes and products.
- Ensure compliance with GMP, ISO, and FDA regulations.
- Work 75% in the lab (assays, instrument testing for transfusion medicine) and 25% on documentation.
- Execute studies per protocol with an understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree (BS) in molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field.
- 1-2 years of relevant experience (entry-level candidates will also be considered).
- Experience with process and test method validations.
- Familiarity with GMP, ISO, and FDA regulations, audits, and quality standards is a plus.
- Lab experience and knowledge of Abbott Instruments are desirable.
- Excellent communication skills with attention to detail.
- Flexibility to accommodate varying shift schedules (Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 10:00 PM with occasional Saturday work).
Preferred Experience:
- Understanding of Good Laboratory Practice (GLP).
- Strong documentation skills and adaptability.
- Ability to perform under pressure to meet project deadlines.
