Associate Scientist II (Editas Medicine, Inc.; Cambridge, Massachusetts):The Associate Scientist II will be responsible for the following duties: Independently lead and develop new experiments and scientific processes to support development of novel therapeutic candidates, utilizing a thorough understanding of gene editing technologies; Lead projects and oversee collaborations; Analyze, interpret, report, and contextualize experimental data; Keep abreast of technical trends to advance and innovate on research projects; Actively participate in team discussions; Collaborate across programs to drive success; and Provide expertise to troubleshoot challenging technical problems.

Requirements

Minimum requirements: Master's degree or foreign equivalent in cell or molecular biology or related life sciences field, plus 2 years of relevant post-degree research experience.

Must Have: Demonstrated extensive expertise in cell and molecular biology and biochemistry; Demonstrated experience in a wide variety of molecular cloning techniques, including standard restriction digest and ligation, Gibson, Quickchange, PCR; Demonstrated expertise with DNA analysis software (Geneious, Benchling, SnapGene); Demonstrated experience in designing and cloning mammalian, bacterial, and viral expression vectors; Demonstrated experience with immortalized and primary cell culture systems in terms of passaging, freezing, seeding, lipid transfections, and AAV/lenti transductions; Demonstrated experience in designing and optimizing molecular assays (qPCR) for isolation and quantification of DNA and RNA, with and without automation; Demonstrated experience with protein isolation, purification, and quantification techniques, such as BCA assay and Western blotting; Demonstrated experience independently troubleshooting molecular assays, including consulting the available literature for potential precedent; Demonstrated excellent attention to detail and organizational and record-keeping skills; Demonstrated ability to work in a team-oriented, multidisciplinary, and cross-functional environment;  Demonstrated ability to collaborate with multiple teams simultaneously while adhering to stringent timelines; and Demonstrated ability to mentor junior team members. (Unless otherwise indicated, employer is seeking ability in skills listed above with no specific amount of years of experience required. All experience can be gained concurrently.)
