Under the general direction of the Supervising Tax Auditor (STA) II, the Associate Tax Auditor (ATA) reviews, analyzes and/or adjusts the more difficult and complex sales tax returns, allocation schedules, field audit reports, and taxpayer accounts in accordance with the local and district tax allocation guidelines. Communicates effectively with staff, taxpayers, and others to resolve assignments accurately and timely. The Associate Tax Auditor (ATA) also trains lower-level staff, reviews and approves Tax Auditor and Tax Technician reallocations and/or redistributions, and evaluates tax distributions that should be investigated, prepares procedural bulletins, and serves as a staff resource regarding local and district tax issues.

This recruitment has been posted for more vacancies than currently exist as it may be used to fill additional identical vacancies which occur within 180 days of the closing date of this bulletin.

Under Government Code 14200, this position may be eligible for full or part-time telework for eligible candidates residing in California.
