Full Job Description

Zelle HR Solutions is seeking an attorney for the county of Scottsbluff! As the County Attorney, you will be responsible for the preparation and conduct of criminal and civil cases, or the defense of felony and misdemeanor criminal cases.

Essential Responsibilities

• Perform complex legal research and prepare ordinances
• Interview and provide clients with legal counsel
• Advise administrative officials and employees
• Conduct investigations and research cases
• Gather facts, review investigative reports, and examine files
• Participate in decisions to seek review through appellate courts
• Provide presentations at sentencing including alternative proposals

Skills and Requirements

• Thorough knowledge of constitutional, state and statutory law
• Considerable knowledge of judicial procedures, rules of evidence and court rules
• Familiarity with functions and legal limitations on the authority of various county departments
• Ability to present and argue cases in court

Training and Experience

• Graduation from an accredited College of Law
• Considerable experience as a practicing attorney including:
• Municipal or county legal research
• Trial work in juvenile defense, misdemeanor defense
• Defense in child support contempt actions, paternity and mental health commitment actions
