Auditor PositionWe have openings in Tallahassee, Boynton Beach, DeLand, Gainesville, Fort Myers, Lakeland, Marianna, Miami, Orlando, Port St. Lucie, and Tampa. An Auditor performs responsible professional work in conducting financial audits, operational audits, performance audits, and other engagements at State agencies, educational entities, and local governmental units. Applicants with professional experience may be considered for a higher-level position.Examples of work performed include:Assisting in conducting financial audits, operational audits, performance audits, or other engagements at State agencies, educational entities, and local governmental units, including, but not limited to, the review and evaluation of accounting systems and internal controls, the analysis and reconciliation of accounts, journals and ledgers, the performing of necessary testing and other related procedures.Assisting in the compilation of general statistical data.Determining the extent of compliance with applicable law, established policies, plans, and procedures.Assisting in the preparation of reports recommending improvements in accounting methods, information systems, program operations, and internal and other management controls.Preparing recommendations for reporting suggested changes to statutory and budgetary requirements.Performing other related duties as required.Knowledge, skills, and abilities required include:Knowledge of accounting, auditing, and other relevant professional standardsKnowledge of research techniquesKnowledge of laws, regulations, and other administrative requirementsSkill in the use of a personal computerAbility to collect, analyze, and interpret dataAbility to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignmentsAbility to communicate effectively, verbally and in writingAbility to handle confidential informationAbility to understand and apply rules, regulations, policies, and proceduresAbility to utilize problem-solving techniquesAbility to effectively interview individuals and organize the information obtained to reflect the logical progression of procedures performed and conclusions reachedAbility to work well as a team memberAbility to follow instructionsAbility to work within deadlinesAbility to deal tactfully, courteously, and professionally with auditeesAbility to maintain objectivityAbility to make sound judgments and decisionsMinimum qualifications include a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting and 30 semester or 45 quarter hours in excess of those required for a 4-year baccalaureate degree, meeting the educational requirements of the Florida State Board of Accountancy for licensure as a Certified Public Accountant (one year of relevant professional experience may be substituted for the hours in excess of those required for a 4-year baccalaureate degree if application was made prior to August 2, 1983, to the Florida State Board of Accountancy for taking the Certified Public Accountant's examination); or possession of a CPA certificate accepted by the Florida State Board of Accountancy.For further information on the requirements of the Florida State Board of Accountancy for taking the Certified Public Accountant's examination, licensure as a CPA, or the acceptability by the Florida State Board of Accountancy of a CPA certificate issued by another state or territory, contact the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation.Education note: List all community colleges, colleges, and universities attended, regardless of whether a degree was received, and provide a transcript from each school. Unofficial transcripts are acceptable for the application review process. Official transcripts are required for employment. For educational degrees obtained from an institution outside the United States, provide a copy of a transcript evaluation from an evaluation service.
