Location Greenville, SC Job Summary Serves as the Graduate Student Services Coordinator for Clemson University’s Automotive Engineering (AuE) department, located at the CU-ICAR Campus in Greenville, SC. Supports master’s and PhD students in areas including, but not limited to: course selection, academic progress, registration, and university procedures/deadlines. Assists staff and faculty with items related to these areas. Supports recruitment and other student-focused events. Performs other duties as assigned. Job Duties 25% – Essential – Course Selection and Academic Progress: Monitors and counsels students on academic progress, advises on course selection and registration procedures, reviews student Plans of Study (GS2) and advises on changes if required, advises on University and departmental policies, engagement opportunities, personal development, identifies student issues and refers students to other campus resources as needed. 25% – Essential – Events: Supports the planning and execution of student‑related departmental events, including but not limited to: Main Campus Showcase, AuE Career Fair, AuE Open House, Fellowship Ceremony, Graduations, UG Brick Ceremonies, AuE Orientation, Welcome at the Watt, other ad hoc recruitment events (e.g., SAE events). Assists with college recruiting and engagement programming as required (e.g., Major Discovery Night, STEM All‑In). 20% – Essential – Registration Coordination: Coordinates and manages course schedule development and input of the schedule into the University’s scheduling system, including adding/changing sections, managing capacities, adding instructors, adjusting or locating rooms, setting meeting times, resolving registration problems, and ensuring compliance with University rules and regulations. 20% – Essential – Graduate Student Contract Management + Program Coordination: Manages assistantship contracts & fellowship commitments, liaises with departmental payroll staff, manages review of applications for graduate programs and enters decisions where applicable, coordinates logistics for PhD qualifying exam, PhD proposal, and final dissertation/thesis defense. 10% – Essential – Service: Serves on departmental or university committees as needed, participates in initiatives related to advising and student success, attends relevant meetings, serves as liaison for the department. Minimum Requirements Education – Bachelor’s Degree Work Experience – Experience in Student Services Programs Job Knowledge Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations. Physical Requirements Stand for prolonged period Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period Walk or move about Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself Move, transport, raise or lower Perceive, observe, clarity of vision Working Conditions 5% – Overnight Travel Work Schedule Standard Hours: 37.5 Compensation Information Expected Salary Range: $45,000.00 – $50,000.00 Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate’s previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson’s compensation guidelines. Essential Personnel Level Normal Operations. Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
