With over 50 years of continuous operation and no layoffs in its history, this environmentally friendly company is the nation's largest recycler of scrap steel.We are seeking a skilled Automation and Controls Specialist with experience in automation systems, controls, and Allen-Bradley programming to support and optimize manufacturing processes, ensuring efficiency, safety, and performance.Key Responsibilities:Design, program, troubleshoot, and maintain automated control systems using Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and SCADA systems.Collaborate with engineering teams to implement control solutions for new and existing manufacturing processes.Troubleshoot and repair control systems, minimizing downtime and ensuring system integrity.Maintain software and hardware for automation systems, ensuring performance, reliability, and safety.Conduct preventative maintenance and ensure compliance with safety standards.Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to optimize automation and reduce costs.Provide technical support and training to team members.Assist in the integration of new equipment into automated systems, ensuring seamless operation.Maintain accurate documentation of system changes and configurations.Qualifications:Education: Associate's degree in Electrical Engineering, Automation, Mechatronics, or related field (Bachelor's preferred).Experience: 2-3 years of experience in automation and controls, ideally in metal manufacturing.Technical Skills:Experience programming and maintaining Allen-Bradley PLC systems (ControlLogix, CompactLogix).Proficiency in RSLogix 5000, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk, and related tools.Knowledge of electrical control systems, sensors, actuators, and motor drives (VFDs, servos).Familiarity with Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, and Modbus communication protocols.Experience with SCADA systems and HMI design (FactoryTalk View).Machine vision and robotic systems experience is a plus.Problem-Solving Skills: Strong troubleshooting and analytical abilities.Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication to interact with teams and document processes.Preferred Qualifications:Experience in metal manufacturing or similar industrial environments.Certification in automation-related fields (e.g., Allen-Bradley, Siemens).Knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.Familiarity with safety regulations in industrial environments.Benefits:Competitive salary based on experience.Health, dental, and vision insurance.Paid time off (PTO) and holiday pay.401(k) with company matching.Career development and training opportunities.How to Apply:Submit a resume and cover letter detailing relevant experience to or apply online here.
