Job Description
SUMMARY:
The Automation Engineer will bring new strategies and visions to life by evaluating and validating all outcomes that improve production. Proving feasibility, as well as creating the plan of action into a sustainable business improvement, through innovation, design, tactical planning, and implementation, is critical to this role.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Project Management - Coordinate and effectively communicate with stakeholders to design, manage, plan, procure, and implement manufacturing production projects to completion for client within sustainable budgeted goals.
- Manufacturing Automation Lead the team in study and implementation of best automation practices.
- Being a leader in Programable Logic Controller (PLC) programming, implementation, and debugging.
- Implement machine vision solutions for automation of robotics and inspection processes.
- Work closely with Production Management, Engineering, and Quality Assurance towards continual improvements in CNC machining operations.
- Manufacturing floor layout and simulations.
- Work closely with Engineering Student Work programs to teach and coach through project study and implementation opportunities.
- Work opportunities include involvement with Finishing and Foundry departments.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Technology or in a related field preferred.
- Previous experience in project management, within a manufacturing environment preferred.
- Applicable engineering software (i.e., SolidWorks and/or other CAD Software)
- Automation simulation software (i.e., Roboguide, Simio, Keyence simulation software, etc.)
- Robotic language writing and communication-primarily Fanuc Handling Tool
- Experience creating custom PLC programs from scratch as well as modifying and debugging existing programs-Allen Bradley PLC preferred.
- Experience with machine vision including Fanuc 2D, Fanuc 3DV, Keyence 2D, and Keyence 3D and Bin Picking.
- Standing for extended periods of time, walking throughout the facility, ability to lift 50lbs as required.
- Exposed to elements, such as cold, heat, noise, dust, odors, fumes, etc.
- Work time is spent on the manufacturing floor and in an office setting.
- Potential for alternating rotation of 1st and 2nd
- Minimal travel requirements to other McWane facilities and suppliers
