Summary

We are looking for several Automation Engineers to join a well-established, multi-disciplinary contractor delivering complex mechanical, electrical, and technology-driven projects. This role is responsible for leading the start-up, programming, commissioning, and troubleshooting of building automation and control systems. The position partners closely with engineering and project teams, supports complex projects from installation through turnover, and plays a key role in mentoring junior technicians while ensuring quality, safety, and performance standards are met.

Key Responsibilities

  • Start up, program, commission, and troubleshoot building automation and control systems

  • Collaborate with engineering, operations, purchasing, and project teams

  • Interpret sequences of operations and translate them into functional control logic

  • Perform point-to-point checkout, calibration, and QA/QC documentation

  • Configure networks, controllers, and communication protocols

  • Develop graphics, dashboards, alarms, and historical trending

  • Lead medium to large projects and provide technical oversight

  • Mentor and train junior automation technicians

  • Diagnose and resolve complex HVAC, electrical, and process control issues

Requirements

  • 4–7 years of hands-on automation or controls field experience

  • Associate degree in electronics, automation, or related field (or equivalent experience)

  • Proficiency with PLC/DDC programming and control logic methods

  • Strong understanding of networking, commissioning, and process controls

  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities on active job sites

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and collaboration skills

  • Valid driver's license and ability to work in construction/industrial environments
