Automation Engineer Apply
- Lead process development, equipment specification, acquisition, and implementation.
- Evaluate machine logic and controls to troubleshoot issues and identify process improvement opportunities.
- Provide advanced ladder logic troubleshooting support for production and maintenance activities.
- Serve as a steward for the internal QMS management system (Oracle's Agile PLM) for change management.
- Integrate controls hardware and software into both new and existing manufacturing equipment.
- Conduct experiments, validation, testing, and data analysis to optimize equipment performance.
- Propose new methods and materials to improve quality, safety, and efficiency.
- Analyze current equipment for suitability and develop detailed improvement plans.
- Create and revise technical documents, including specifications, SOPs, safety instructions, validation protocols, and risk assessments.
- Collaborate with engineers and technicians to develop solutions and improvements for materials, equipment, and processes.
- Participate in teams to ensure continual improvement, safety, and compliance.
- Troubleshoot problems with a diverse scope requiring evaluation of obscure or unknown data.
- Use precision measuring equipment, hand, and power tools as required.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong experience working in GMP, FDA, ISO, or USDA-regulated environments.
- Proficiency in manufacturing automation technologies, including:
- PLC Programming (Allen Bradley Logix5000 preferred):
- Ability to read, troubleshoot, and generate new ladder logic for sequencing complex manufacturing tasks.
- Human Machine Interfaces (HMI) (Allen-Bradley Factory Talk View preferred):
- Ability to modify, troubleshoot, and design user interfaces.
- Motion Control (Servo Drives, VFDs, Stepper Drives):
- Ability to troubleshoot and tune control loops.
- Robots (Staubli and/or Epson preferred):
- Ability to modify robot programs and sequence new paths/functions.
- Vision Systems (Cognex and/or Keyence preferred):
- Ability to troubleshoot and design vision inspection systems, including lens and lighting selection.
- Ability to develop robust inspection logic for product disposition.
- Electrical Aptitude:
- Ability to read and trace control systems from electrical prints.
- Ability to troubleshoot common control hardware (relays, fuses, breakers).
- Ability to generate and modify electrical prints to support system upgrades and integration.
- PLC Programming (Allen Bradley Logix5000 preferred):
- Experience working in GMP, FDA, ISO, or USDA-regulated environments.
- Familiarity with cGMP and ISO 13485 regulations and practices.
- Proficiency in statistical analysis software (Minitab) is a plus.
