Overview We are looking to hire an AWS/Java developer with 8-10 years of software development experience. This role involves close collaboration with the data modernization teams at ITD and DPH to design, implement, and manage AWS solutions that align with their technical requirements and business objectives. Skill Sets and Experience Experience in modernizing legacy applications, including refactoring/migrating in‑house legacy applications to the cloud environment. Proficient in utilizing AWS services and related components to build enterprise‑level Data Lakes. Experience in software development with hands‑on skills in Java – strong Java, J2EE, Spring framework & Hibernate technology. Experience working with any transactional or RDMS databases. Experience with DevOps practices and automation tools. SQL – writing complex queries, understanding database relationships, debugging and performance tuning. ETL tools – hands‑on experience with cloud‑based tool. Understanding data modeling. Knowledge/experience using any ETL tools and experience with data analytics using PowerBI or AWS QuickSight is plus. Must have experience/familiarity with Agile/Scrum framework environments. Job Responsibilities Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and propose effective modernization strategies. Design, develop and test Java‑based, cloud‑native applications and backend systems. Designing, building, and maintaining ETL pipelines. Analyzing data models and business requirements. Data validation: querying the database to verify that data is correctly inserted, updated, and deleted by the application, ensuring data accuracy and integrity. Design, create, and execute test cases. Back‑end testing: validating back‑end logic and data processing that might not be immediately visible through the user interface. Collaboration with developers and business analysts to understand data requirements and ensure comprehensive test coverage. Utilizing AWS services within application architecture. Develop, test, debug, and deliver within timeline using best tools and best practices available. Participate in code reviews, ensure security best practices, and maintain clean, efficient code. Monitor application performance and optimize for cost, security, and reliability. Identify, analyze, and resolve technical issues and challenges. Ensure adherence to standards and best practices.
