Applications with a pattern of frequent job changes may not align with the values we prioritize.Your MissionWe are seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer (Backend / Cloud-Native) with deep expertise in event-driven architectures to design, build, and scale modern cloud-native solutions on AWS. In this role, you will work on highly distributed systems leveraging AWS Lambda, event streaming/messaging services, and Snowflake to enable reliable, scalable, and data-driven platforms. You will also contribute to backend application development and deployment in support of AI-enabled and healthcare-focused solutions.You will collaborate closely with product managers, architects, and other engineers to deliver resilient solutions that support real-time and near–real-time use cases, taking ownership from design through production support.What You’ll DoDesign, build, and scale cloud-native backend systems on AWSDevelop serverless applications using AWS LambdaImplement event-driven and asynchronous architectures using messaging and streaming servicesBuild and integrate data pipelines with Snowflake and related data platformsSupport real-time and near–real-time backend processing use casesDevelop and maintain backend applications using Python or PHP and Laravel (9/10/11)Apply Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles and software design best practicesManage and optimize Queues, Jobs, Events, and ListenersSupport deployment and operation of AI-enabled solutionsEnsure high availability, performance, security, and observability of backend servicesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality, production-ready solutionsTake ownership of services from design through deployment and production supportContribute to modernization of legacy systems and large-scale cloud transformation initiativesWhat You Bring5–8+ years of professional experience in backend and software engineering Strong hands-on experience with Python or PHP and Laravel (9/10/11)Strong experience building serverless and cloud-native solutions on AWSExperience with AWS Lambda and event-driven architecturesHands-on experience with messaging and event streaming servicesStrong understanding of asynchronous workflows and distributed systemsExperience integrating backend systems with SnowflakeSolid understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and design patternsExperience implementing queues, jobs, events, and listenersStrong experience with observability, monitoring, logging, and security best practicesExperience working in Agile/Scrum development environmentsExperience modernizing legacy systemsExperience with large-scale cloud migration and transformation programsKnowledge of frontend technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, Vue.js or React)Experience in healthcare, digital health, or regulated environmentsFamiliarity with data platforms and real-time analytics architecturesWhat We OfferAt Newpage, we’re building a company that works smart and grows with agility—where driven individuals come together to do work that matters.
