Backend Python Engineer - Data Pipelines (Mid)

Everforth ECS is seeking a Software Developer – Mid to work in our Fairfax, VA office. ECS is building a solution for the Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA) under the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). We design, build, deploy, operate, and maintain a complete ‘Data Services’ solution that includes collecting, normalizing, enriching, visualizing, and sharing cyber data from over 100 federal agencies. The solution is an integrated suite of Commercial Off the Shelf (COTS) products, software configuration packages, and custom code. Successful candidates demonstrate excellent problem‑solving skills, enjoy tackling technical tasks with little oversight, and think at the broader solution level. A strong desire and aptitude for learning are essential as our solution is rapidly evolving. Candidates must have experience writing well‑structured Python code, using best practices, and a solid understanding of core data pipeline processing capabilities, including design patterns, stream vs bulk processing, ETL/ELT functionality, data stores, and APIs. Responsibilities Design, analyze, and develop backend enterprise‑level Python applications. Build performant, reliable, and scalable systems. Implement or work with ETL/ELT and APIs. Work with persistent data storage (relational and NoSQL databases). Collaborate with the agile team to deliver reliable code. Required Skills Must be a US Citizen and able to obtain and maintain DHS suitability. 3+ years developing backend enterprise‑level Python applications. 5+ years building performant, reliable, and scalable systems. 2+ years implementing or working with ETL/ELT and APIs. 3+ years working with persistent data storage (relational and NoSQL databases). 5+ years git experience (GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket, etc.). Demonstrated experience writing unit tests to ensure reliable code delivery. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail. Excellent written and oral communication. Desired Skills Experience creating Kibana visualizations and writing Kibana queries. Experience working with cybersecurity concepts, tools, technologies, and missions. 3+ years of experience working in CI/CD. 3+ years working on an agile team. 3+ years of experience working in AWS. Experience with infrastructure as code solutions. Experience with message queue services (RabbitMQ, SQS, etc.). Experience with distributed event platforms like Kafka. AWS Certification.
