Responsibilities:
- Prepare garnishes as needed for baked goods.
-Helps with topping cupcakes and other desserts.
-Assists with preparation of decorations for cakes and assembling of basic cake decorating.
-Making mousses, buttercreams and other ingredients needed to decorate desserts and cakes.
-Helps with the preparation and building of cakes for orders.
-Assisting in crumbing and final crumbing of all cakes.
-Assists with rolling, dipping and packaging of 300-800 cake pops weekly.
-Maintains adequate supply of all prepared products on hand and ensures the proper storage and refrigeration.
-Keeps spoilage/waste to a minimum by ordering and utilizing proper quantities and rotating products.
-Utilizes any and all leftovers into usable products.
-Cleans, breaks down, and puts away all baking equipment including: ovens, mixers, floors, freezer, and refrigerators.
-Washes dishes
-Takes out trash
Customer Service/ Administrative tasks:
-Speak with customers in store and on the phone to determine their goals for their cake
-Use a variety of methods and tools to bring the customer’s vision to life
-Ensure that our display cases are clean, organized, and appealing
-Operate our cash register/ point of sale system
-Answer our customers’ questions regarding their orders either in person or via phone.
-Do your part to help us maintain inventory and keep our store clean and sanitary.
Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a bakery assistant or in a similar role in the food industry
- Knowledge of food preparation techniques and baking principles
- Familiarity with pastry techniques and cake decorating
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet production deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow recipes accurately
- Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize tasks
- Ability to work independently as well as part of a team
- Good communication skills to collaborate with other kitchen staff
Experience is preferred but will train the right person.
You must be able to work at a fast pace, be hard working and be able to multi-task.
You must be confident enough to help customers in person and on the phone.
This job does require a lot of hard work, standing for long periods of time, working at a fast pace while maintaining the quality of our products.
We are a small business and must rely on our employees.
Calling out on a regular basis will not be tolerated.
You will learn a lot but you MUST be willing to put in the time and work.
Expecting to decorate right away won’t happen. Everyone starts with the basics like washing dishes, helping with simple orders and doing all tasks in the bakery.
Your availability MUST be Monday-Saturday, 10-5pm.
This position will be 2-4 days a week and 10-20 hours depending on the time of year.
Summers are our busiest season so time off during the summer may not be possible.
