Responsibilities:
$2,500.00 sign-on bonus with one year employment committment.
Highlands Behavioral Health System is an 86 bed, acute care psychiatric hospital located in Littleton, CO. Highlands features individual units for adolescents, adults, and seniors, and offers inpatient acute care, partial hospitalization, and intensive outpatient programs. The Behavioral Health Technician (BHT) manages the immediate milieu of patients, facilitates group therapy, aids with activities of daily living, and assists in the maintenance of a safe and clean environment, under the direction and supervision of the Charge Nurse. Other duties include but are not limited to:
  • Consistently provides supervision for assigned patients.
  • Facilitate psycho-educational groups.
  • Clearly documents observations of patient behavior.
  • Performs basic housekeeping tasks required to maintain patient living areas.
  • Ensures safety of patient at all times.
  • Ensures Patients Rights and Confidentiality are maintained.
  • Escorts patients to events away from the facility such as recreational and other activities, Court for conservatory or other hearings, Emergency Room or clinician office as necessitated by their physical condition.
  • Promotes a positive working environment by demonstrating respect and tolerance for age, gender, race and choice of lifestyle.
  • Demonstrates required attendance and reliability.
  • Assumes responsibility for professional development and ongoing education; discuss personal goals for continued development with supervisor and/or DON.
  • Promotes, by education and example, a therapeutic environment.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and attitude at all times.
  • Demonstrates required attendance and reliability.
  • Promotes safety by attending mandatory in services and complies with all safety measures initiated by the facility.

Shift Hours: 12 hour shifts (7p - 7:30a); every other weekend required.
Shift Differential Pay: Up to $4.00/hour

  • Advancement Opportunities - BHT Career Ladder Program: A new BHT must be employed for a 6-month period and will then be introduced to the BHT Career Ladder Program. The BHT can achieve advancement in title and compensation by following the BHT Career Ladder process.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent required;
  • Bachelors degree in human services field preferred.
  • Two+ (2+) years of education focused on nursing, psychology, social service, medicine or related field or completion of EMT, CNA, Medical Assistant, Security Training program or equivalent preferred.
  • At least one year relevant experience preferred.
