This role leads the benefits function, ensuring operational excellence, regulatory compliance, and a high-quality colleague experience.This position requires the ability to operate both strategically and tactically, effectively working across all levels of the organization while maintaining strong controls and oversight.Benefits Manager Essential Functions:Strategy & LeadershipDevelop and manage the organization’s benefits strategy aligned with business objectivesPartner with leadership to provide insights, recommendations, and cost modelingSupport vendor selection, negotiation, and ongoing performance managementOperations OversightOversee all benefits administration processes and team performanceEnsure accurate and timely execution of enrollments, life events, and terminationsLead Open Enrollment strategy, communication, and executionWorkday OwnershipServe as the functional owner of Benefits within WorkdayEnsure data integrity across HRIS, payroll, and vendor systemsPartner with IT, Payroll, and Finance on integrations, enhancements, and system governanceCompliance & Risk ManagementEnsure compliance with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and applicable state regulationsOversee audits, filings, and reporting requirementsEstablish and maintain strong internal controls and validation processesFinancial StewardshipManage benefits budgeting, forecasting, and cost control strategiesOversee carrier invoice reconciliation processes and financial accuracySupport and partner with Finance to ensure accurate reporting, accruals, and fundingLeave of Absence SupportSupport administration of Leave of Absence programs, including tracking, documentation, and coordination with vendorsMaintain accurate leave data in Workday and ensure timely updatesAssist with leave-related inquiries and escalate complex cases to the Benefits ManagerSupport compliance documentation and audit readinessTeam LeadershipLead, coach, and develop Benefits team membersEstablish clear roles, accountability, and performance expectationsProvide hands-on support as needed in a fast-paced, evolving environmentSkills/Aptitude:Strong strategic and operational leadership capabilitiesDeep knowledge of benefits compliance and regulatory requirementsStrong financial acumen and analytical capabilityExcellent communication and strong leadership presenceAbility to lead through complexity and drive process improvementProficiency in Microsoft Office SuiteAdvanced Workday Benefits experience requiredRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or related field, or equivalent experience7+ years of progressive benefits experience, including leadership responsibilityProven experience managing vendors, compliance, and benefits strategyExperience in multi-site, service-based, or hospitality environments preferredWork EnvironmentThis job operates both in an office environment and within operational settings, as needed.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by a colleague to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
