Job Title: Group Benefits SpecialistContract Length: PermanentLocation: Hybrid in Mississauga, ONFederal Government Clearance Level Required: NoneVacancy Type: New Position________________________________________About Us:Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a hybrid Group Benefits Specialist for our client in Mississauga, ON.This is a hybrid position with a mandatory 1 day/week on site (Tuesdays).________________________________________Position Summary:The Group Benefits Specialist plays a critical role supporting the end to end administration and ongoing operations of group benefit plans for a diverse portfolio of clients across Canada.This is a hands on, business-facing role that blends deep industry knowledge with strong operational aptitude. The successful candidate will be comfortable working directly within benefits administration platforms and troubleshooting issues to resolution. This role requires someone who understands group insurance workflows, can translate plan requirements into system configuration, and demonstrates strong agility to quickly learn and adapt to new platforms and tools.In addition to day to day plan administration, this role leads group implementations, resolves complex issues through root cause analysis, supports continuous process improvement, and acts as a mentor to junior team members. A client focused, detail oriented mindset and sound professional judgment are essential to success.This position offers a flexible hybrid work model and career growth opportunities.________________________________________Key Responsibilities:Client Servicing & Group Plan Administration• Serve as a senior point of contact for assigned clients, advisors, and insurer partners, ensuring timely, professional, and inclusive service delivery.• Manage full cycle group benefits administration, including: o New employee enrollments, terminations, life event updates, and salary changes o Eligibility management and contract maintenance o Premium billing reconciliation and adjustments o Advisor commission statements o Ongoing reporting, audits and compliance support o Plan sponsor billing• Interpret plan designs, insurer contracts, and administrative rules to ensure accurate, compliant processing across all systems.• Liaise with insurance carriers to resolve escalated issues, manage service expectations, and coordinate ongoing plan requirements.Group Implementation• Hands on configuration of group benefit plans within administration platforms, using front end system screens and available tools. Performance end-to-end testing, including payroll, carrier and premium. • Set up new groups and plan designs by translating client and carrier requirements into accurate system configuration, including: o Group and plan setup, coverage tiers, rates configuration and eligibility rules in the benefits system•Onboard and validate client and employee data, ensuring accuracy and completeness throughout implementations and transitions.Operational Analysis & Problem Solving• Conduct root cause analysis on operational errors, system issues, or client escalations. • Identify gaps between plan requirements, workflows, and system behavior, and recommend practical solutions. Be the voice of the client to our products team.• Support operational improvements by aligning business processes with system capabilities.Mentorship & Team Collaboration• Act as a mentor and subject matter resource for junior team members, particularly on: o Complex plan scenarios o System usage and configuration o Best practices in group benefits administration• Provide coaching, peer review, and informal training to support skill development.• Participate in team meetings, implementation reviews, and continuous improvement discussions.Process Improvement & Documentation• Contribute to the creation, refinement, and maintenance of standard operating procedures (SOPs), workflows, and job aids.• Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, efficiency, and client experience through better processes and clearer documentation.• Maintain comprehensive, up to date documentation for assigned client accounts in accordance with company standards.____________________________Required Qualifications:• Minimum 5 years of experience in group benefits administration, ideally within a TPA, insurer.
