Job Description:

Pay: $30/hr

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Bilingual (Spanish) Algebra I Tutor to join our team in Queens. In this role, you will provide in-person tutoring to high school students during the school day, helping them master Algebra I concepts and prepare for assessments. Your bilingual skills will be essential in communicating effectively with students who are Spanish speakers.

Compensation and Schedule:

• Target launch date February 10, 2025
• Schedule of 3 six-hour days each week
• Pay of $30 per hour, including paid sick leave

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct individualized tutoring sessions to help students prepare for the Algebra I Regents exam in June
• Develop and implement lesson plans tailored to meet the unique needs of each student, particularly English Language Learners.
• Monitor and assess student progress, providing feedback and support as needed.
• Utilize a variety of teaching strategies and resources to keep students engaged.
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to facilitate a supportive learning environment.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development opportunities.

Requirements

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree (or currently pursuing a degree) in Education, Mathematics, or a related field.
• Fluency in both English and Spanish, including strong proficiency in mathematical terminology and the ability to teach math effectively in Spanish.
• Previous experience in tutoring or teaching Algebra I.
• Familiarity with the New York State Regents exams.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
