BIM / VDC Coordinator
Contract Duration: 1 year
Location: Florence, SC- onsite
Geographical Requirements:
- Priority will be given to candidate residing or living nearby Florence, South Carolina.
- Must be able to travel at minimum 75% of the time, if not residing in Florence, SC.
- Must be able to work on-site (no remote) at the construction trailer/office 4-5 days a week.
- Must be able and willing to travel to other CLIENT US Plant (ex. Smyrna, TN) to provide weekly support if needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Working and reporting directly to each site assigned BIM Manager as well as Global Digitalization Team COE Leader.
- Primarily focus on the hook-up MEP and process equipment coordination with CLIENT internal, the hired design-build MEP teams and the base building general contractor/design/subcontractor teams.
- Initiate and drive bi-weekly/weekly BIM coordination meetings for the entire hook-up phases (i.e. from design to construction and to maintenance).
- Be able to attend meetings due to different time zones (USA East/Central/West Coast, China, India).
- Be able to manage data and work directly within Autodesk Construction Cloud platform and viewer.
Clash Detection:
- Conduct regular clash detection analysis using Navisworks, identifying potential conflicts between different base building systems (architectural, structural, MEP) with hook-up MEP and process equipment
- Generate detailed clash reports, highlighting the nature and location of conflicts for effective communication with CLIENT internal and hook-up design-build teams.
- Facilitate clash resolution meetings to discuss and prioritize identified clashes, assigning responsibility for necessary design adjustments.
Model Coordination:
- Manage the CLIENT Federated BIM/Revit model, combining models from various disciplines into a single coordinated file for clash detection.
- Monitor model quality, ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards and specifications.
- Implement workflows to ensure timely updates to the model as design changes or when clashes occur.
- Convert hook-up 3D model objects (ex. pipes, equipment) from different file format (ex. STP) into RVT (Revit) and NWC (Navisworks) format to be used BIM coordination and clash detection.
- Model 3D components in Revit from the 3D scanning point cloud data to be used for BIM coordination and clash detection.
Project Team Collaboration:
- Collaborate closely with architects, engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to identify and resolve design issues early in the design phase and during construction and installation phases.
- Train project team members on best practices for model creation and clash detection using Navisworks and Autodesk Construction Cloud ACC 3D Viewer.
- Lead regular coordination meetings to discuss clash resolution progress and next steps.
BIM Exchange Information Requirements (EIR):
- Monitor adherence to the CLIENT BIM EIR document, addressing any deviations and ensuring consistent model quality.
- Help improve and further develop CLIENT EIR, outlining standards, workflows, and deliverables related to model coordination and clash detection based on lesson learned on hook-up.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Proficiency in BIM software, particularly Navisworks and Revit
- Knowing Inventor, SolidWorks, ZWCAD Plant is desirable
- Good knowledge in BIM cloud platforms such as Autodesk Construction Cloud (ACC), BIM 360, PlanGrid, Doxel, PMWeb, etc.
- Strong understanding of construction principles and coordination practices
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-disciplinary teams
- Ability to analyze complex design issues and propose solutions
- Experience with clash detection workflows and reporting
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices related to BIM and VDC
Proficiency in delivering projects according to BIM standards such as ISO 19650
