Job Summary:

The boiler engineer shall have the responsibility for ensuring the safe operation and maintenance of the high pressure boiler plant, chillers, cooling towers, generators, water treatment and fuel holding tanks, etc.

Job Expectations:
1. The boiler operator will operate and maintain all equipment in the Power Plant, such as chillers, cooling towers, generators, water treatment, holding tanks, etc. in accordance with manufacturer guidelines, OSHA, State and Federal guidelines. Readings will be documented on appropriate log sheets provided by the department.
2. The boiler engineer will consult with and advise the manager regarding problems with operation of the power plant and report all repairs and maintenance that require assistance from the manager or outside services.
3. The boiler engineer will request ordering of machine parts and boiler consumables in a timely basis to maintain the power plant in safe operating condition.
4. The boiler engineer shall be responsible each shift for tracking utility usage and other measurements on daily logs.
5. It is the boiler engineer's responsibility to daily maintain the boiler plant in a neat and clean environment with the assistance of the shift boiler engineers, and report back to manager/supervisor on satisfactory or unsatisfactory progress when necessary.
6. In the case of other non-scheduled absence of an operating engineer the boiler engineer may fill in where possible under the absence/overtime guidelines for shift boiler engineers of the Local 70 contract.
7. The boiler engineer shall be responsible for completing hospital mandatory education and department training and obtain state and local licenses/permits as assigned by his manager/supervisor.
8. The boiler engineer shall have a positive track record of dealing with areas of conflict and resolving problems in order to reduce conflict and ensure an environment of teamwork, respect and courtesy.
9. The boiler engineer will perform all related duties as assigned according to the departments established guidelines and timeframes.

Demonstrates ability to provide care or service adjusting approaches to reflect developmental level and cultural differences of population served
o Communicates in a respectful manner.
o Ensures a safe, secure environment.
Fulfills all organizational requirements
o Completes all required learning relevant to the role

Minimum Qualifications to Fulfill Job Responsibilities:
Required Education:
High School Diploma Experience
Boiler engineer experience acceptable to his manager/supervisor.
License/Certification/Registration
Minimum First-Class B Boiler License Preferred Education
A graduate of an accredited trade school with Boiler and HVAC experience or military background in high-pressure steam
Experience
Five years' experience working as boiler engineer
Preferred but not required, experience with Excel, Word, Honeywell EBI Controls and Webs Control by Niagara.
