West Wareham, MA Established demolition company is seeking a Sr Accountant/Controller. Small casual office environment. 40 on‑site in‑office hours per week. Senior Accountant / Controller Industry: Construction Location: Onsite Overview We are seeking a hands‑on Senior Accountant / Controller to support the financial operations of our construction business. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who enjoys owning the numbers, managing receivables and billings, and serving as a steady financial partner to leadership. This position offers a unique transition opportunity: the previous Controller recently retired and will be retiring again after a structured training period, providing hands‑on knowledge transfer and continuity. Key Responsibilities Own and manage Accounts Receivable and customer billings (primary focus) Oversee and review financial statements and bank statements/reconciliations Maintain accurate financial records and ensure strong internal controls Support month‑end and year‑end close processes Partner closely with leadership to provide financial clarity and insight Work within and help optimize industry‑specific accounting software – Structure (similar to Sage / Timberline) Collaborate with external partners as needed (banking, auditors, etc.) What This Role Does Not Include Payroll processing is not a core responsibility. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required) 5+ years of accounting experience Prior Experience In The Construction Industry Strongly Preferred CPA not required Strong understanding of receivables, billing structures, and financial reporting Comfortable working with construction‑focused accounting systems Detail‑oriented, organized, and reliable with strong ownership mentality Work Environment & Schedule Onsite daily preferred to collaborate closely with the team. Some flexibility available for scheduling (family/kids considerations can be accommodated). Compensation & Benefits Salary: Flexible based on experience; target range $85,000 – $105,000 Bonus: Performance review after 3 months with bonus eligibility PTO: 3 weeks Paid Holidays: 11 Why This Role Stable, well‑supported transition with hands‑on training.
