Job Title: Bookkeeper, Finance Dept. Exemption Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Asst. Supt. of Finance & Operations Pay Grade: 05 Works with: District Personnel Days: 226 Dept./School: Business & Finance Date Revised: 03.11.26 Primary Purpose Under general supervision, perform general ledger accounting and maintain district financial records. Prerequisites High school diploma or GED, and Associate's degree in accounting-related subjects (preferred) Special Knowledge/Skills Knowledge of bookkeeping principles and practices Ability to use computer and software to develop spreadsheets and do word processing Proficient in keyboarding, 10-key numerical data entry, and file maintenance Ability to work with numbers in an accurate and rapid manner to meet established deadlines Effective public relations, organization, communication, and interpersonal skills Ability to communicate in English and Spanish Experience Two years' experience or college course work in accounting or related field Major Responsibilities And Duties Accounting Maintain complete and systematic records of assigned district financial transactions. Verify and record details of financial transactions in appropriate journals and subsidiary ledgers and transfer subsidiary account summaries to general ledger. Examine general ledger transactions for accuracy; make corrections as needed and inform supervisor of problems. Maintain and record incoming and outgoing cash, receipts, accounts receivable, and credit card usage. Assist with preparation of financial statements, income statements, to reflect financial condition of district and help prepare financial statements and budget amendments for presentation to board. Compile, maintain, and file all reports, records, and other documents as required including bank reconciliations, quarterly/annual MAC and SHARS reports, and annual budget. Other Receive and direct incoming calls, take reliable messages, and route to appropriate staff. Greet visitors (e.g. public, parents, students, vendors, etc.) respond to their inquiries and/or direct them to appropriate personnel in accordance with district policies and procedures regarding building security. Responsible for processing all incoming and outgoing district mail. Maintain confidentiality. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
