We are searching for a BOT Project Engineer on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment.(W-2) You will be supporting solar farm design and construction for build-own-transfer (BOT) projects delivered to external customers. In this role, you will serve as the engineering lead for customer-contracted projects, managing 3rd party contractor teams while ensuring technical execution aligns with negotiated contractual, performance, and milestone requirements.


The person in this role makes decisions and recommendations having significant impact on extensive engineering and related activities for the company. This position represents the engineering function in customer-facing and commercially sensitive settings and negotiates critical technical and scope-related issues with senior engineers, commercial representatives, Independent Engineers, and officers of other organizations and companies. Project outcomes may directly impact contractual milestone achievement, payment events, and liquidated damages exposure.


As a successful candidate, you will have experience applying value engineering to balance reliability, cost, and performance for complex systems, along with thorough knowledge of applicable engineering disciplines including electrical, structural, civil, and materials.


A preferred candidate will have experience managing schedules, budgets, and milestone-driven contractual obligations for major capital projects delivered under EPC, BOT, or similar structures.

Responsibilities

  • Project engineering responsibilities span from proposal support and customer negotiation through construction, commissioning, and warranty.
  • The BOT Project Engineer plays an active role in customer negotiations, helping develop and refine technical contract documents, evaluating customer-driven requirements, and representing NEER in live technical discussions.
  • This role requires strong technical judgment, commercial awareness, and the ability to think on your feet in high-stakes discussions while maintaining productive customer relationships.
  • Following contract execution, the BOT Project Engineer interprets technical agreement documents and translates negotiated requirements into clear internal scopes of work, coordinating across engineering, project management, procurement, development, legal, and other stakeholders to ensure compliant and timely execution. Throughout project delivery, this role maintains direct customer interface, supports Independent Engineer reviews, and guides resolution of scope and technical disputes as needed.


Education

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering is required (e.g. civil, electrical, mechanical, chemical, etc.)


Required Experience

  • Approximately 5+ years of engineering experience, with demonstrated technical ownership on complex, externally delivered projects. Candidates with fewer years of experience may be considered if they show strong early career responsibility, customer interaction, or contract executed project delivery.
  • Experience supporting engineering or project delivery for large, multi disciplinary projects, ideally in energy, infrastructure, or other capital intensive industries.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical specifications and project agreement requirements, and translate them into clear, executable engineering scopes.
  • Demonstrated experience coordinating across cross functional internal teams (e.g., engineering, project management, procurement, development, legal, or similar) to support timely and compliant project execution.
  • Experience engaging with external stakeholders such as customers, EPC contractors, vendors, or partners in technically and commercially sensitive environments.
  • Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills, with the ability to exercise sound technical and commercial judgment.
  • Preferred / Helpful Experience
  • Engineering or project management experience on utility scale solar projects, particularly


We are committed to transparency and equity in all of our people practices. The base salary range for this position, which is dependent upon experience, qualifications and skills, is estimated to be $45.00/hr. to $50.00/hr.
