Job Description
LHH Recruitment Solutions is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Budget Accountant for a 13-week onsite contract opportunity with a respected healthcare organization in Newport News, VA. This role is ideal for professionals with a strong foundation in accounting and a passion for data-driven decision-making in a highly regulated environment.

Location: Onsite (5x8 schedule, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM)
Duration: 13 weeks to start
Interview Process: Virtual interviews; assessments required prior to interview consideration
Dress Code: Casual (jeans welcome)

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct complex accounting analyses using advanced Excel and database tools.

  • Prepare and analyze monthly estimates for contractual adjustments, charity care, and bad debt.

  • File Medicare and Medicaid annual cost reports and settlements.

  • Develop and maintain annual budgets and tax filings at the federal, state, and local levels.

  • Report to state regulatory authorities and perform cost analysis.

  • Interpret and apply federal and state regulations to ensure compliance.

  • Evaluate and enhance the integrity of accounting functions and recommend improvements.

  • Serve as a liaison with auditors, consultants, and regulatory agencies.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required); Master’s degree preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills with proven experience in financial reporting and budgeting.

  • Proficiency in Excel and database management.

  • At least one year of healthcare accounting or finance experience (CPA may substitute).

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Pay Details: $40.00 to $44.00 per hour
