Role Description

Mainstay Engineering Group is seeking its first Business Analyst to build and lead enterprise‑wide analytics and performance reporting. This high‑impact role will integrate financial and operational data from recently combined companies, establish core KPIs, and deliver actionable insights that drive profitability, efficiency, and growth.


This is a hands‑on, foundational role ideal for a self‑starter who enjoys building analytics capabilities from the ground up in a professional services environment while partnering closely with executive leadership.

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Analytics, Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field
  • 5+ years of experience in business analytics, BI, or financial analysis
  • Strong experience with Deltek Ajera (required)
  • Proven ability to build dashboards, KPIs, and reporting frameworks
  • Strong financial acumen and understanding of professional services economics
  • Ability to work independently in a newly created role

Preferred

  • Experience in engineering, architecture, construction, or professional services
  • Experience supporting mergers, acquisitions, or financial system integrations
  • Familiarity with project accounting, utilization metrics, backlog, and revenue recognition
  • Experience working directly with executive teams and Boards


Key Responsibilities

Analytics & Reporting Leadership

  • Own and lead the company’s analytics and business intelligence function end‑to‑end
  • Design, build, and maintain dashboards and reporting in Deltek Ajera
  • Establish a reliable single source of truth for financial and operational data

Financial Systems Integration

  • Lead analytics support for integrating two companies’ financial systems in Ajera
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting to align data structures, metrics, and controls
  • Perform post‑integration analysis including margin comparisons, trend analysis, and benchmarking

KPIs & Executive Reporting

  • Collaborate with leadership to define and refine core KPIs across finance, operations, and project delivery
  • Ensure metrics are consistently defined, measured, and tied to financial outcomes (e.g., utilization, realization, profitability, backlog, cash flow)
  • Deliver executive‑level dashboards and recurring reports for leadership and Board review

Business Partnership & Insights

  • Work cross‑functionally with Finance, Operations, Business Development, and Project Management
  • Translate business questions into clear, data‑driven insights and recommendations
  • Analyze trends, risks, and opportunities using historical and real‑time data
  • Support forecasting, budgeting, and scenario modeling initiatives

Data Governance & Improvement

  • Define data standards, metric definitions, and reporting best practices
  • Improve data quality, consistency, and reliability within Ajera
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and enhanced BI tools
