Project Description

The MySchools application manages school program admissions applications and facilitates the placement of students (ranging from 3K to high school, as well as specialized programs such as Summer Rising and DREAM) each school year. This public-facing application supports high-visibility enrollment policies, has grown in complexity to handle additional modules, expanded workflows, and evolving data and policy requirements. To ensure smooth operations during peak enrollment periods are met to support families and other users in navigating the enrollment process MySchools Operational Support and Enhancements Project will address key performance, configuration, testing, enhancement, and policy-driven development needs

The MySchools Operational Support Project will provide critical support for the continued operation of MySchools, deliver technical upgrades to maintain compliance, implement enhancements to address evolving policy and leadership priorities, and ensure the smooth and timely execution of key enrollment initiatives that respond to the needs of families and other stakeholders.

The Business Analyst works closely with the Project Manager to engage with stakeholders and users, gather and document business requirements, validate processes, and ensure project deliverables align with business objectives. This role requires excellent analytical skills, effective communication, and proficiency with business process tools

Key Responsibilities

Requirements Gathering and Documentation:

Engage with users and stakeholders to elicit, define, and document detailed business requirements.

Develop clear and comprehensive Business Requirement Documents (BRD) and Functional Requirement Documents (FRD).

Business Process Validation:

Analyze and validate existing business processes to identify areas for improvement.

Ensure alignment of business processes with organizational goals and project objectives.

Collaboration and Stakeholder Engagement:

Act as a liaison between business stakeholders and technical teams.

Facilitate workshops, interviews, and discussions to clarify needs and objectives.

Tools and Documentation:

Create workflows, process diagrams, and use cases using tools like MS Visio or Lucid Chart.

Collaborate with the Project Manager to update and manage schedules using MS Project.

Project Tracking and Communication:

Use Jira to document user stories, track progress, and manage backlogs in Agile environments.

Ensure stakeholders are regularly updated on progress and changes to requirements.

Quality Assurance:

Validate deliverables against documented requirements to ensure project alignment.

Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) by creating test cases and validating outputs.

Required Skills and Qualifications

4+ years as a Business Analyst or in a related role.

Proficiency in MS Visio or Lucid Chart for creating workflows and process diagrams.

Hands-on experience with MS Project and Jira for project tracking and documentation.

Strong understanding of business analysis techniques and methodologies.

Excellent interpersonal skills to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.

Analytical mindset with attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.

Strong documentation and presentation skills.

Experience in Agile-Scrum and Waterfall project methodologies.

Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) and business process improvement.

Ability to analyze data and generate actionable insights.

Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
