Responsibilities The Business Analyst is a key contributor within Berkley Global Underwriters (BGU), responsible for supporting, maintaining, and continuously improving BGU’s global service platform. This role focuses on analyzing system issues, documenting and prioritizing defects, and partnering with technology teams to implement enhancements that improve stability, functionality, and user experience. While the primary focus is platform support and optimization, the Business Analyst may also contribute to other BGU initiatives, providing analytical and process support across the organization as priorities evolve. The position collaborates with operating units—including Underwriting, Operations, Compliance, Legal, Actuarial, and Technology—to ensure solutions remain aligned with business needs and operational objectives. Under the direction of the SVP, Berkley Global Underwriters: Translate business needs into actionable system requirements by gathering, analyzing, and documenting functional and system specifications that align with operational goals and platform usability. Lead testing and validation activities including early QC validation of defect resolutions, full UAT testing, and function validation with business stakeholders to ensure solutions work as intended. Maintain system integrity by applying and updating business rules, revising user training manuals as needed, and participating in the annual Disaster Recovery process. Support day-to-day platform operations by assisting internal and external users, providing system access to new users, and delivering training to ensure smooth onboarding. Collaborate with vendor and technology department to identify, test, and close defect items while meeting established service standards. Conduct weekly issue review calls with the vendor to discuss reported issues and provide guidance on remediation steps. Drive continuous improvement by analyzing workflows, recommending enhancements, and ensuring system changes meet regulatory, operational, and quality expectations. Provide clear, timely communication to stakeholders regarding system changes, issue statuses, and upcoming enhancements to ensure consistent alignment and expectations. Contribute to broader BGU projects by analyzing operational workflows, identifying improvement opportunities, and supporting the design and validation of updated processes that enhance overall service performance. Qualifications Education and experience Requirements Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. 3–5+ years of insurance business analysis experience with strong understanding of underwriting, claims, policy administration, and related processes. Technical proficiency with insurance platforms and comfort with data analysis and root cause investigation. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and other business-related software. Qualifications Proactive mindset with a focus on continuous improvement; consistently identifies opportunities to enhance processes and drive efficiency‑focused improvements. Curiosity and willingness to challenge assumptions; asks insightful questions and validates information to uncover root causes and stronger solutions. Ownership and accountability for deliverables; ensures work is accurate, timely, and completed with reliable follow‑through. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines; remains organized and adaptable while balancing competing tasks in a fast‑paced environment. Relationship building; demonstrates the ability to establish and maintain strong business relationships that support collaboration and shared success. Communication skills; conveys ideas clearly through strong verbal and written communication tailored to diverse audiences. Technical and business acumen; applies a solid understanding of technical concepts and business principles to support sound decision‑making and operational excellence.
