Job Title: Business Development Manager - Government Sales

Job Summary:
The Business Development Manager will drive sales and revenue growth by developing and managing relationships with local, state, and federal government agencies. This individual will identify and pursue new business opportunities, understand government procurement processes, and position the company's products or services as solutions to government needs. The role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver tailored solutions, managing the bid and RFP process, and achieving sales targets.
Key Responsibilities:
Government Sales Strategy: Develop and implement a sales strategy to target government agencies, including identifying key decision-makers and understanding their purchasing processes.
Lead Generation: Identify and generate leads within local, state, and federal government agencies, and manage the sales pipeline to achieve revenue goals.
RFP & Bid Management: Lead the preparation and submission of Requests for Proposals (RFPs) and other bid documentation, ensuring compliance with government procurement policies and deadlines.
Relationship Building: Establish and maintain strong relationships with government officials, procurement officers, and other key stakeholders to position the company as a trusted partner.
Market Research: Conduct market analysis to identify trends, government funding sources, and new opportunities within the public sector.
'Negotiation & Closing: Negotiate contracts and agreements, ensuring favorable terms for both the company and the government client.
Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal teams (e.g., legal, finance, product development) to ensure that solutions meet government specifications and compliance standards.
Compliance Management: Stay informed of changes in government procurement policies and regulations to ensure all activities are compliant with the law.
Sales Reporting: Track and report on key performance metrics, sales forecasts, and business development activities to senior management.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Policy, Marketing, or a related field.
Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in business development or sales, with a focus on government contracts and procurement.
Knowledge of Government Procurement: Strong understanding of government contracting, RFP processes, and compliance requirements.
Networking Skills: Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders in government agencies.
Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex solutions to government clients.
Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to identify opportunities and create tailored solutions for government agencies.
Attention to Detail: Ability to manage multiple projects, with attention to deadlines and compliance regulations.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience selling to specific government sectors (e.g., healthcare, infrastructure).
Knowledge of federal and state funding sources and how to leverage them in proposals.
Familiarity with government sales tools such as GSA schedules, FedBizOpps, or similar platforms.
