Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Business Systems Analyst to analyze, support, and recommend improvements to core business processes, integrating technological systems to enhance functional efficiency and effectiveness. The role involves close collaboration with IT Operations, business operations teams, and other organizational departments to provide support and enhancements to existing systems and applications.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including decision-makers and end users, to define business and technical requirements, system goals, and resolve system issues.
- Design and implement changes to applications to enhance business processes, operations, and information flow.
- Develop strategies to optimize the use of existing systems and recommend enhancements or replacements where needed.
- Prepare detailed reports, recommendations, and alternatives to address system issues and opportunities.
- Support the planning, design, development, and deployment of new applications and enhancements to current systems.
- Conduct cost/benefit analysis for proposed systems to aid management in decision-making.
- Ensure system compatibility, interoperability, and adherence to IT standards.
- Prepare detailed program specifications and models using standard methodologies.
- Provide end-user training for modified or new systems.
- Conduct research on software and hardware products to justify recommendations and support purchasing efforts.
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to applications, hardware, and firmware.
- Assist in the design and development of business reports; familiarity with tools like Tableau is a plus.
- Maintain, update, and document key systems and processes to ensure continuity and compliance.
Qualifications:
- Experience implementing and maintaining third-party IT systems (on-premise and SaaS).
- Proficiency in SQL and Oracle relational databases; SQL Server experience is a plus.
- Experience designing, developing, and debugging SQL queries.
- Knowledge of business systems, applications, and operational needs, preferably in transit or related industries.
- Familiarity with reporting tools like Tableau and creating user-focused reports.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to identify, analyze, and address business and technical issues.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Visio, and Windows 10.
- Knowledge of Trapeze Software modules or similar systems is an advantage.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to engage diverse technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to work independently, manage priorities, adapt to demanding situations, and meet deadlines.
