Job Description
Position Summary:
- The Business Unit Quality Manager will develop, champion, and lead quality improvement initiatives for processes and product lines. Responsible for ensuring managers, process owners, and Team Quality Leaders develop and engage in improvement plans while maintaining their part of the quality management system. This role works cooperatively across the production facility and additional sites to promote a continuous improvement philosophy across all programs, processes, and innovations company-wide.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Quality Team Leadership:
- Develop and lead quality teams to address recurring non-conformance, customer issues, and internal quality challenges.
- Lead the Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) process, ensuring timely and effective resolutions.
Process Improvement:
- Track and analyze internal and external quality data; communicate performance metrics organization wide.
- Implement Six Sigma approaches and Statistical Process Control (SPC) to enhance product and process quality.
- Develop Control Plans, FMEAs, Process Maps, and related tools to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Operational Excellence:
- Ensure processes for managing non-conforming materials and blocked stock are adequate to meet business needs.
- Maintain SQF certification and support customer regulatory and certification audits.
- Own the quality audit system, driving engagement across all levels of the organization.
Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Function as a liaison between manufacturing, sales, customer service, and field quality teams.
- Address quality issues in the field and respond to customer corrective action requests effectively.
Qualifications:
Basic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Quality Management, Engineering, or Six Sigma.
- Knowledge of Quality Management Systems (e.g., Document Control, CAPA, Audits).
- Proficiency in Lean Six Sigma methodologies.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and statistical tools (e.g., Minitab).
- Must be authorized to work in the United States (Visa sponsorship is not available).
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Packaging Science, or Manufacturing Engineering.
- Extensive knowledge of quality systems and their relation to business operations.
- Green Belt/Black Belt certification in Lean Six Sigma.
